Threshing Seed with a Rubber Mat

After we discovered the rubber mat technique for edible grains, we found that it works well for getting smaller seed out of their husks too.

We have done this now with:


The crucial thing is that the seed and chaff need to be really dry, so that the husks crumble when you roll them around with your foot.

Then either winnow the seed or pass it through a series of screens to remove chaff & dust.
